The Adventure Center

The Adventure Center is the hub of outdoor recreation, adventure and activity.  A trip to our Adventure Center is a must.  Here, we go to great lengths to challenge - from weekend warrior to accomplished athlete.  So get outside, get a workout and enjoy the magnificent scenery in the mountains of the Laurel Highlands.  You could spend a few days alone absorbing all the activity here, you may want to add a day or two to your trip.

Adventure Center is open daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Paintball    Shoot or be shot.  An extreme-energy, action packed game.  We have Target Paintball at Quick Draw Alley.  Accuracy is a must as you keep score against friends, family or challenge yourself and your top score.   Combat Paintball is the ultimate heart pounding, adreneline rushing experience.  Our team creates organized atmospheres in the wooded hills for you to enjoy a game alone or with the entire family. 

Combat Paintball is available daily at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Mountain Biking  Jump on a bike and see the sights.  We have a variety of Specialized mountain bikes available for rental as well as Kid Trailors and Jogging Strollers.  Zip across the acres of trails on property or visit the miles and miles of trails available in nearby Ohiopyle State Park, Laurel Ridge State Park and Sugarloaf Mountain.  Rent one of ours or bring your own. 

Climbing Wall  We challenge you to conquer our fifty-foot, free standing climbing wall.  Don't worry if your a first timer, the three-sided wall tests beginners as well as advanced climbers.  Substitute your typical morning workout with a session the Climbing Wall, you'll find muscles you didn't know you had. 

Ropes Course and Zip Line  The ultimate in suspended adventure.  This elevated ropes course will challenge and reward with two levels (20 feet and 40 feet) and 21 obstacales.  Once you've got that mastered, an exhilarating 250 foot zip line will you send you flying back to the ground.  Nothing like it!

Archery  Once the sport of royalty and the ultimate test of ones accuracy and aim is now a fun, family activity that will bring out the competitive spirit in everyone.  We have a variety of courses and target sets for you to challenge.  Archery instruction is available daily at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Outdoor Volleyball Pit  The only spectators in this gym are the surrounding mountains, wildlife and the occasional sunset or two.  Our outdoor volleyball pit is the perfect activity.  When you are done, relax by the fire pit and enjoy.  Life is good  

   The Equestrian Center

Experience the resort's 3,000 acres the way the original inhabitants and settlers of the area did - on horseback.  The Equestrian Center offers a variety of trail rides for all levels.  Our seasoned and passionate guides will accompany you throughout the majestic mountains along trails once navigated by Chief Nemacolin and George Washington. 

Don't want to leave your horse at home when you are on vacation?  Bring him or her along with you to Nemacolin.  We offer overnight stabling so you can enjoy the trails on the back of your trusted friend.

Rides are available daily at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Reservations are required for all trail rides. 

All riders must be 55inches or taller.

The Safari Ride  A ride designed for anyone, The Safari Ride begins at the Wildlife Academy and winds thoroughout 2 miles of wooded trails by many of the animal habitats on property.  Some fascinating animals you will see on this excursion include white grey wolves, a black leopard, wallaby and other exotic creatures.  Fun for the whole family.

The Off-Road Trot  For the intermediate riders, the Off-Road Trot traverses a 3-4 mile stretch of trails along the golf courses, Off-Road Driving Academy obstacles and provides views of the animal habitats.  Wide open field trotting provides the thrill of a lifetime.

The Extreme Saddle  For our experienced riders (you will be tested), this ride takes you through creeks, up embankments, obstacles and with the right conditions, you will be taking your horse for a swim.  After all, he worked hard for you all day. Ride at 7:30am only.  Must be 16years or older.

Fatbird Carriage Safari  New for 2008!  Feed Tigger the Bengal Tiger (click here for a video with Animal Curator, Alison Rowley).  Play tug of war with Giggles the African Hyena.  Play ball with a black bear.  You and your family can do all this and more on the Fatbird Carriage Safari.  This hour and 1/2 ride takes you on a horse drawn carriage tour of the animal enclosures including Dall sheep, mountain goats, black bear, moose, hyenas, tiger, lions and zebras.  Departs the Lodge Circle every Wednesday - Sunday at  2:00.  Advanced reservations are required. 

Other Equestrian Activities  Starting Memorial Day Weekend, carriage rides will depart The Lodge Circle every thirty minutes in the evening and Pony Rides for the little ones will be offered throughout property.  Want a private moment with that special someone?  Chartered carriage rides are always available with advanced reservations. 

 The Wildlife Academy

The Wildlife Academy at Nemacolin is dedicated to providing interactive entertainment and live animal programs with an emphasis on education.  It is also all animal, all the time!  You can share some Neamcolin space with lions, leopards, three-toed sloths, alligators, snapping turtles and Humphrey the Moose -to name a few in the nearly 100 species collection. 

Daily tours are available on the hour from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The Animal Encounter Nursery Tour  It is our version of a kicked-up petting zoo.  Children (big kids, too!) will delight in the spirited playtime with a variety of animals.  It's all about the Animal Encounter.

Self Guided Tours and Petting Zoo View the animals in our nursery at your leisure and have an opportunity to feed and interact with them. 

Wild World of Animals Show  It's a circus-like atmosphere with live animal shows to entertain and educate all ages.  Hard to say what you might see here on a given day.  A variety of animals from around the world, to be sure.  You'll think it is more fun than a barrel of monkeys. 

Wildlife Habitats  They are literally around every corner of the 3,000 acres that make up Nemacolin.  Hop in your car, on a bike or walk the trails and visit with Tigg the Tiger, Humphrey the Moose, Rocky, Sugar and Boo Boo the black bears and Snowball, the White Buffalo.  You'll be surprised, we promise. 

Ohiopyle State Park

Nemacolin is your gateway to some of the best river rafting, kayaking, hiking and biking in the Eastern United States.  Situated just a scenic 10 minute ride from the gates of Nemacolin is Ohiopyle State Park.  The Park encompasses 19,052 acres of rugged, natural beauty.  The focal point of the park is 14 miles of the Youghiogheny River that pass through the heart of the park.  The Falls Day Use Area provides free parking, swimming, wading, modern restrooms, a gift shop and overlook platforms with magnificent scenery.

If you prefer your excursions to be a bit drier, Ohiopyle State Park offers miles of hiking and biking trails including the Great Allegheny Passage, a flat trail that connects Pittsburgh with Washington, D.C.

Hiking and Biking

Take to the trails and enjoy the natural beauty of Nemacolin and the surrounding mountains of the Laurel Highlands.  Nemacolin features a vast array of hiking and biking trails on property.  Hike and walk past wildlife, across streams and rock formations.  Looking for a workout?  Substitute those 30 minutes on the treadmill with a run on our cross-country trail system. A wide variety of paved biking trails line the resort's 3,000 acres and bike rentals are available. 

Looking for something more?  Just 10 minutes away, visit Ohiopyle State Park which boasts the most extensive hiking and biking trail system in Pennsylvania

Tennis

Tennis Pro Fritz Schunck is a USTPA certified professional with over 25 years of teaching experience. Fritz's tennis programs will teach and improve the tennis game of adults and children with all levels of experience. Court rentals, tennis equipment, and ball machine rentals are also available. 

Tennis instructions and clinics are available Wednesday- Friday and Sunday by appointment only.  Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Youth Clinics are offered for ages 5 - 12.  From 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. the Cardio Tennis Clinic will get your blood pumping as well as improve your game. 

Complimentary court rentals are available at the Activity Center in The Lodge. 

The Activity Center

The Activity Center is fun for all ages.  Located next to PJ's Ice Cream Parlor, the Activity Center has more things to do than you'll have time for.  Play video games, pinball and air hockey in the arcade or let the kidz splash away in our children's indoor swimming pool.  Challenge the kidz to a game of ping pong, shuffleboard or croquet. 

During the summer months and holiday seasons, family movie night features the newest releases and the Arts in the Afternoon program will bring out the creative spirit in everyone.  Bocce ball, horse shoes, badmitton sets and board games are just a few more offerings at the Activity Center.  Enjoy!
